Our Annual Migration

There is a flurry of packing, cleaning and preparing our flat (apartment) against the onslaught of monsoon rains.  It’s annual migration time and we are returning to the United States for the summer months. (This is the fourth year that we have been based in Asia for 8 months or longer, with just a few months in North America.)

We are looking forward to reconnecting with family, friends and our church family during three months in the USA and Canada.

Things we miss when we are overseas:

  • Worship services in English
  • Hamburgers – any beef if we're honest
  • Mexican food
  • Personal space (elbow room is a luxury)
  • Quiet public settings (Asia is a constant cacophony of noise and crowded spaces)
  • Driving ourselves around (sometimes we just want to get out on our own instead of relying on other people)

For more on how different life is overseas, check out this blog report:  Journeys With God: It's Just So Different.

We’re taking the scenic route back to America with a stop-over in Amsterdam, Netherlands for a few days personal vacation to enjoy the scenic windmills, canals and Dutch food.

We’ll spend three weeks in Las Vegas reconnecting with as many people as possible. Then it's a beautiful drive north to Montana for several meetings. Please join us as we share what God is doing around the world.

August plans include trips to Alberta, Canada and Tennessee to visit family and friends.

As Paul wrote to the family of God in Rome:  Gary and I long to see you so that we may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong, that we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith. (Romans 1:11-12 paraphrase)
